Effective date: 21 October 2026

This policy covers the Indie Egg apps Scramblr: Daily Anagram Puzzle (com.scramblr.daily) and Solputhir (com.solputhir.daily). Where a section applies to one app only, it says so. Fruggy (grocery.shopping.planner) is not covered by this policy and has its own privacy policy. This page also covers the Indie Egg website (indieegg.com).

Summary

  • No accounts. You never sign up, log in, or give us a name or email to use an app.
  • Your game progress, streaks, and settings stay on your device.
  • Apps send anonymous usage data and crash reports to Google Firebase.
  • Free versions show ads from Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID.
  • Purchases are handled by Google Play. We receive only enough to unlock what you bought.
  • No data is sold.

What we collect

Usage and crash data (Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics).

  • Anonymous usage events, such as which screens are opened, which features are used, and when a puzzle is started or solved. Firebase assigns each install an anonymous app instance ID for this.
  • Crash reports and diagnostic data, such as the error, the app version, and the device model and Android version. Crashlytics assigns each install an anonymous installation ID for this.
  • This is used to find and fix bugs and to see which features people use. It is not used to identify you.

Advertising ID (Google AdMob), free versions only.

  • Your device's advertising ID, which Android lets you reset or delete. AdMob uses it to choose and measure ads. Ads are shown in free versions only.
  • You can turn off ad personalisation at any time (see "Your choices" below).

Purchases (Google Play Billing).

  • When you buy Pro, a credit pack, or the Welcome Bundle, Google Play processes the payment and tells the app which product you bought. We never see your card or payment details.
  • The app records the purchase on your device so it can unlock Pro features or add credits. Pro and the Welcome Bundle can be restored after reinstalling from the same Google account. Credit packs are used up when they are added, so they cannot be restored.

Word reports (Scramblr and Solputhir, only when you send one).

  • If you tap "Report a problem with this word" and choose a reason, the app sends the word, the puzzle date number, the reason you picked, the app version, and a server timestamp to our Google Firestore database.
  • No name, email, or device identifier is sent with a report. Reports are used to fix word lists and definitions.

Sharing a result (Scramblr and Solputhir, only when you tap Share).

  • The app creates a text card with your result and hands it to the Android share sheet. We do not see where you send it. The text includes a link to the app's Play Store page with a campaign tag so we know which screen the share came from.

Reminders and on-device data.

  • The daily reminder is scheduled on your device. It is stored locally and is not sent to us.
  • Game progress, streaks, the streak freeze count, credit balance, hint use, settings, and the reminder preference are stored locally on your device.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, microphone input, or any login credentials. We do not run accounts in any Indie Egg app. The app does not request location, contacts, or camera access.

The Indie Egg website (indieegg.com) uses no cookies, no tracking scripts, and no analytics of its own. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of any web request.

Who receives data

  • Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) receives the usage events and crash data described above, on our behalf.
  • Google AdMob receives your advertising ID in free versions to serve and measure ads. Ad personalisation follows your Android ads settings. Once you buy Pro, the app shows no ads and AdMob no longer receives the ID from that app.
  • Google Play processes purchases and restores.
  • Google Cloud Firestore stores word reports, only when you send one.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not sell data, and we do not share it with anyone else.

How long we keep data

  • Usage and crash data is kept by Firebase under its standard retention settings.
  • Word reports are kept until we have acted on them.
  • Purchase records are kept by Google Play under its own rules.
  • Anything stored on your device stays there until you clear it or uninstall the app.

Your data on your device

Game progress, streaks, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device. They leave your phone only if you back up your device through Google's standard backup system, which is governed by Google's privacy policy.

To delete all local data for an app: uninstall it, or go to Android Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Storage → Clear Data. Clearing data also resets your progress and any credit balance. Pro and the Welcome Bundle can be restored by reinstalling the app from the same Google account. Used credit packs cannot be restored.

Your choices

  • Stop ad personalisation: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
  • Reset the advertising ID: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
  • Remove ads entirely: buy Pro in the app. It is a one-time purchase with no ads.
  • Turn off the daily reminder: Settings in the app. Turning it off cancels all scheduled reminders.
  • Ask us to delete a word report: email the address below with the word and the approximate date. Word reports cannot be linked to you, so we may not be able to find a specific one.

Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us data, email us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when an app's features or the services it uses change. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
